Renee Bernard

"If you enjoy what you do for a living, you will never work a day in your life."
I opened Chez Renee in 1987 after working for another local salon for 3 years. Shortly after opening, I decided to return to school and get my Instructor's permit for Cosmetology. Continuing education has always been really important to me in my career. In 1994, I graduated from Lakeside School of Natural Therapeutics in Milwaukee. I finished my degree and became a Nationally Certified, State Licensed Massage Therapist. I was the first one in Fort Atkinson, and the early days were extremely challenging.

Since then, I have been trained in numerous modalities in the massage industry. I am a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, trained in Manual Lymph Drainage, Craniosacral Therapy, Small Animal Massage, Certified Infant Massage Instruction, Certified Weight Training, Repetitive Use Injury Therapy, Sciatica Massage Therapy... and more.

Also in 1994, Sarah Durrance joined me and we began with a new name, Studio 8. Having been a hairstylist since 1984, I still truly enjoy all aspects of hair designing. Coloring and Highlighting would have to be my favorites, since they truly do make the most extreme changes in how a person looks.

In my personal life, my family and I rescue pit bull terriers. The love and loyalty one receives from a rescued animal is beyond any emotion I can put into words. My new endeavor includes being a Rainbow Hospice volunteer. I enjoy rewarding experiences; over the years, hair and massage have been so rewarding but now adding the new dimension of using those talents to give back to the community through volunteering has made my career come full circle. I have truly been blessed!

I have been in the beauty business since 1987. I graduated from the Scientific School of Cosmetology in Madison, WI. I began my career working full time as a stylist employed by another local salon in Fort Atkinson. After seven years, I received a call from Renee Bernard (then owner of Chez Renee) asking if I would like to join forces and combine our talents to form the first full service salon in the area--Studio 8. Of course this was the opportunity of a lifetime, and 18 years later, Studio 8 prides itself on being the cutting edge full service salon, always offering new products and services.

My forte is cutting and coloring. I love taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary. This is a very rewarding career and I am always looking forward to the next new thing.

Ever since I was very young, I have been passionate about the beauty industry. I attended the Janesville Beauty Academy in Janesville, WI. After graduation, I began my career in my hometown of Whitewater, WI. My love for a family environment brought me to Studio 8. I have worked with Renee for 29 out of the 30 years that Studio 8 has been in business. I enjoy continued education and the constant change associated with our business. I can honestly say that to this day, there is not one aspect of the hair industry that I don't enjoy.

My passion for making people look the best they can and feel great about themselves has kept me designing hair, doing nails, skin care, and numerous other aspects of the hair industry. I truly enjoy it everyday.

I enjoy working with the Studio 8 family, which includes our staff and clients. I am looking forward to meeting new clients and making their visit enjoyable and relaxing.

I have been a stylist at Studio 8 for 12 years. I specialize in precision cutting and color and am especially drawn to the naturally curly crowd. My talent is creating natural looking color and highlights and completing the look with a style you can do yourself at home. With my artistic vision and impeccable attention to detail, I enjoy working with clients to come up with styles individualized to their needs. I like to keep up with the latest techniques and hair trends, and am constantly working on mastering new techniques, trying to always exceed my client's expectations.

I am trained in Schwarzkopf color and techniques and am regularly attending classes to continue growing and refining my skills. I regularly enjoy styling hair and doing make up for weddings and other special occasions. While the majority of the time you will find me doing hair behind the chair, I enjoy doing facials, manicures, especially the new Shellac nails, pedicures, and eyelash extensions.

Whether you want a contemporary classic or funky avant-garde style or are just looking for an afternoon of pampering you are sure to be pleased with my experience as well as the result. My ultimate goal is that my clients feel welcome and have a drama free experience, unless drama is what you are after, I can handle that too!

Having my hair done by Renee Bernard and seeing how much fun she was having inspired me to enroll in Cosmetology college 4 years ago. I attended Vicci Cappilli School in Greenfield, WI. My passion for making people feel great about themselves, color, cutting, and advancing my career through continued education helped me decide to accept an offer to work at a salon in Greenfield, WI. For 2 years, I worked and received 48 hours of advanced training from high ranking stylists from around the US. To continue growing and advancing my career, I began working in Oconomowoc, WI, where I learned to do nails.

While working at this job, I received that phone call that I had been waiting for since I graduated. I was offered a position at Studio 8. I accepted the position and now am happy and content to be offering a variety of new services and look forward to seeing new clients and making them smile.

Everyone at Studio 8 tells me I am fantastic with kids, and I truly enjoy working with the little ones!

I've always known the beauty industry was what I wanted to get into ever since I was a little girl. Right after graduating high school, I attended Regency Beauty Institute in Madison, WI. Shortly before graduating I was offered a job by Renée. I gladly accepted the position and counted down the days until I graduated and could start an exciting career at Studio 8.

I love working in a full service salon. Providing facial, nail, skin care, and hair services keeps my career exciting. I enjoy the full spectrum of hair designing and I always make sure I am up on the latest trends and techniques. My strengths and specialties encompass long hair, ombré, bayalage techniques, and precision panel placement for highlights and lowlights. I enjoy working with each client to achieve their desired finished look. Come in and see what I can do for you!
